About Steven Quam, DO

Steven Quam, DO, is a board-certified, fellowship trained anesthesiologist who also specializes in the field of pain management. He brings over 30 years of experience in interventional pain medicine and management of chronic pain to the team at Metro Anesthesia & Pain Management with offices in West Des Moines and Des Moines, Iowa.

Dr. Quam was born and raised in Central Iowa and has lived in the Des Moines area for over 30 years. He received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences in Des Moines, Iowa. He then completed his residency training in anesthesiology at Grand Rapids Osteopathic Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan. 

Dr. Quam is an anesthesiologist at SCA Surgery Center and medical director at the Wolfe Surgery Center of Des Moines in West Des Moines, Iowa.

Dr. Quam is also an adjunct professor at Des Moines University, working with students completing pain management and anesthesia rotations. 

Dr. Quam wants patients to seek help from the practice’s pain clinic as their first choice instead of their last resort in pain management.
